Log Frame & Timber Frame Homes For Your Future

Log Frame Construction from Southern Log Crafters

What is Traditional Log Frame™ construction from SLC?

Traditional Log Frame is a handcrafted post and beam type construction technique that is engineered and constructed much like a timber frame home.  Because of the differences from one log to another, these homes are 'one of a kind' even when using one of our standard plansMinimal mechanical fasteners are utilized in our Traditional Log Frame™ construction.  We use many of the same mortise and tenon joinery techniques that were used in Japanese timber frames centuries ago with pegs as our fastening system.  These homes are designed and built to last the sands of time.

I have a sketch of the house plan that I like, can you give me a quote?

Yes,we would be happy to quote it for you.  Just send us the sketches with dimensions and window and door approximate locations and we can give you an accurate quote for the frame and the skins packages installed on your site.

How much does a Traditional Log Frame™  structural frame cost?

The cost of the structural frame normally ranges from $18 to $38 per square foot depending on the size and complexity of the structure.  Most homes, when combining our structural frames with our wall and roof “skins” options, range between $50 and $80 per square foot.

How long does it take to build?

Our process is fairly simple.  Once you have signed off on the final design, we can begin the ordering and cutting process.  The ordering and cutting process takes from one to six months, depending on the size and complexity of the structure.  All projects are scheduled as closely as possible to meeting the customer’s needs for our "on site" instillation and construction services.  Once the package and crafters arrive at your project site, most installs take only three to ten days.

What kind of foundation do I need for a Traditional Log Frame™ OR Log Frame home?

Any foundation can be utilized. Our homes can be put on slabs, crawlspaces, piers, pilings, and basements.  Any standard materials can be used.

What is Log Frame?

Log frame construction is much like our Traditional Log Frame™ but without the actual mortise and tenon joinery.  You still get the full scribe joinery, and the frame is held together with mechanical fasteners and in some cases, iron connectors.  This method of construction costs ranges from $16 to $35 per square foot for the frame depending on the size  and complexity of the structure.  Combined with our "skins" options, most homes average between $45 and $75 per square foot.
